Tropospheric delays caused by water vapor in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and rain
fall attenuation in communication links for broadcast and communication satellites (BS, CS) significantly affect
positioning and communication quality, respectively. However, these are important topics for atmospheric remote
sensing for weather forecasting. In recent years, the development of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations
such as Starlink and OneWeb has increased the potential for improved spatial and temporal resolution in satel
lite-based atmospheric remote sensing. This study evaluates the effectiveness of atmospheric remote sensing for
extreme weather and climate risks, focusing on tropospheric delays from LEO satellites and satellite communi
cations between LEO satellites and the ground. Focusing on the trends of cutting-edge research from 2023 to
2025, authors examine the latest trends in muon application technology, notable research outcomes, and future
developments. |
