[Invited Talk] Construction of a radio interferometer using two communication antennas

(in English) The two large antennas at the KDDI Yamaguchi Satellite Communications Station were originally built for Intelsat communications. After their communications operations ended, these antennas were modified and converted into radio telescopes for observing astronomical objects, and are now used by a group at Yamaguchi University. By using the two radio telescopes simultaneously to construct a radio interferometer, high sensitivity to radio objects can be achieved, and this capability is being used for research on black holes and other astronomical objects. This lecture will introduce the history of the Yamaguchi radio telescopes and the astronomical research currently being conducted there.
