Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) cannot always maintain full functionality under degraded environmental and computational conditions. In such situations, stop-only behavior or fixed mode switching is often overly conservative, and a runtime mechanism is needed to determine how much functionality can still be preserved safely. This paper presents a runtime degradation mechanism on Lingua Franca (LF) that connects monitoring, decision making, and control application, generates local FSP models from the current abstract state, invokes Directed Controller Synthesis, and selects the highest feasible degraded ODD level. The mechanism observes latency level, lane visibility, lead gap, and driver available, evaluates ODD levels from L0 to L3, and reflects the result into control constraints such as speed capping, lane-change permission, handover request, hazard lights, and stopping. Through an ADAS prototype, we show an executable skeleton of progressive runtime degradation based on local DCS rather than hand-written fixed mode switches. |
