[Invited Lecture] Initial Study of Timing-Aware Optical Dataflow Control toward Optical Total Disaggregation

(in English) As AI and HPC systems continue to scale, achieving higher performance without increasing power consumption has become a major challenge. Optical path direct connectivity offers the potential for wide-bandwidth, long-reach, and low-overhead communication. In this paper, we investigate optical dataflow control toward Optical Total Disaggregation, focusing on timing predictability for future distributed AI and multi-flow processing systems. We discuss a slot-based optical dataflow control concept and develop an initial evaluation platform using FPGA boards and a silicon-photonics optical switch. Experimental results demonstrate communication overhead below 2 µs, timing variation below 0.4 µs, and throughput up to 97 Gbps. These results indicate the feasibility of optical dataflow control with predictable timing behavior and provide a foundation for future multi-flow processing technologies.
