Development of a system to support the suppression of free-riding by utilizing GitHub in software development exercises

(in English) This research focuses on software development exercises and aims to develop a system that supports the early detection of signs of the free-rider problem among learners in collaborative learning and helps instructors identify teams requiring intervention. Through this system, we aim to mitigate the free-rider problem.
The proposed system collects activity logs from GitHub, including issues, pull requests, and commits, and assesses and visualizes team states based on development activities and task management situations. This enables instructors to easily understand the status of each team. By objectively visualizing the collaborative work process, which has traditionally been difficult to observe, the system supports the early identification of teams experiencing stagnation or uneven contribution patterns and assists instructors in providing appropriate educational interventions according to each situation.
In this paper, we describe the design principles of the system under development and the implemented instructor support functions.
