Measurement and Evaluation of Beam-Scanning Characteristics of an Accordion-Foldable Reconfigurable Reflectarray antenna

(in English) This paper presents beam-scanning characteristic evaluation results of an accordion-foldable reconfigurable reflectarray antenna. Assuming periodic deformation of the antenna surface corresponding to the folding pattern, the beam-scanning characteristics and gain compensation performance are evaluated. The aperture deformation is characterized by the substrate bending angle α relative to the horizontal plane. The measurement results show that, for α = 0°, the 3 dB scan range is 80° (−40° to 40°). For α = 30°, the range reduced to 40° (-20° to 20°) before phase calibration; however, appropriate phase calibration restores the range to 80° (−40° to 40°).
