Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, computationally constrained devices, such as IoT devices, have become widespread. On such devices, the use of public-key cryptography, which requires substantial computational resources, is limited.
As a means of reducing reliance on cryptographic techniques, methods that use physical-layer properties for authentication have attracted attention. One such method uses radio-wave directivity to authenticate whether communication originates from a specific sender.
To verify correct authentication, it is necessary to show, in a concrete model considering the positions of the participants, transmitted and received signals, noise, and other factors, that an attacker cannot generate a received signal that the receiver would accept as being from an honest sender. In this case, simulations are conducted with specific parameter values.
However, there are two problems. First, it is difficult to verify correct authentication for all possible parameter values. Second, the concrete nature of the model makes simple verification difficult.
In general, security protocols are verified using more abstract symbolic models. Such models enable verification independent of parameter values and make the causal relationships leading to security explicit, allowing simple verification.
This research aims to construct a symbolic model and a verification method for a protocol that uses radio-wave directivity as an authentication factor.
