While millimeter-wave communications are expected to enable high-capacity data transmission through the use of wide bandwidths, they are susceptible to propagation losses and the effects of obstructions, making the control of base station antenna directivity critical. In this study, we evaluate the impact of the base station's beam tilt angle on reception quality in a millimeter-wave communication environment using phased-array antennas. First, we constructed a SINR evaluation model incorporating both a desired base station and an interfering base station, and compared a fixed tilt angle with an optimal tilt angle determined by an exhaustive search. Furthermore, we considered multiple user distributions within 100 m of the desired base station and calculated the coverage rate and average SINR for each distribution. The results confirmed that, compared to a fixed tilt, selecting a tilt angle based on the user distribution improves both the coverage rate and the average SINR. This demonstrates the effectiveness of beam tilt optimization that takes user distribution into account. |
