The effect of set size on the criteria in visual search

(in English) The aim of the present study was to investigate how the effect of target frequency on a decision criterion was altered depending on set size in visual search. To do this a wide range of target frequency was tested from 10% to 90%. The results showed that the decision criterion was shifted to "absent" responses irrespective of set size when target frequency was low. On the contrary, this bias disappeared for the large set sizes and "present" responses increased for the small set sizes when target frequency was high. These results suggest that criterion for visual search could be modulated by search, decision and response criteria.
