A Method Reproducing Embedded Device Operation Response Speed

(in English) Consumer electronics vendors have been actively working on improvement of its UI (UI: User Interface) so to improve the usability of consumer devices. The ISO13407 has reported the importance of initial usability evaluation at the early stage of development in order to improve the usability. Discovering critical design mistake at the early stage would not only reduce the development cost, but also improve the usability. However, it is quite usual to use the UI viewer on PC to evaluate the UI sequences and/or ease of UI menu as such prototype does not exist at the early stage of development.
This study is intended to establish a method for UI evaluation that allows developers to find not only the issues in UI sequences, but also in its operation and response speed. This report proposes three operation response speed reproducing models applicable to the UI viewer on the PC with some insights.
