Causal relationship between visual-motor phase synchronization and response time -- EEG manipulation by transcranial current stimulation --

(in English) A phase synchronization of electroencephalograph (EEG) is known to occur between visual and motor cortices during performing a movement for visual stimulus. However, the relationship between the response time and the phase synchronization is not clear. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether or not the response time was modulated by manipulation of the brain activity with a transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). We compared the response times and EEG modulations of the visual-stimulus-response tasks between before and after tDCS. The response time became fast after tDCS. Along with the performance, the left motor alpha and beta amplitudes increased after tDCS.
