A Study of Gain Enhancement of Horn Antenna Using Various Shaped Woodpile EBG

(in English) This paper presents the shaped woodpile Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) to enhance the gain of horn antenna. The gain enhancement synthesis method for shaped woodpile EBG that has to transfer the power from aperture of horn antenna through woodpile EBG is presented by using a variety of shaped woodpile EBG such as planar, triangular, and circular structures. The antenna characteristics i.e., reflection coefficient (S11), radiation patterns, and gain of the variety of shaped woodpile EBG are analytically computed by A Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. The bandwidth, at S11 (-10 dB), is between 10 to 14 GHz with a center frequency of 12 GHz.
