A maximum power point (MPP) exists in a pair of loosely coupled coils, in which the load matches inductive reactance, and limits the transmission capacity of inductive coupled power transmission (ICPT) systems. Most existing MPP calculation methods are based on impedance matching under sinusoidal condition. Yet, the above methods are not applicable to non-sinusoidal excitation, which may result in many numerical errors. A more pervasive solution is proposed for calculating the MPP in loosely coupled system with arbitrary excitations. The total reactance of both fundamental wave and all harmonics are mentioned in this method. Experimental verifications are conducted with commonly used driving waveforms, including square and triangular wave, the theoretical expectation is in good agreement with the actual results. The method proposed in this paper provides a precise calculation of MPP under multiple-harmonics driving waveforms, of which are directly driven by choppers or bridge switching circuits. |
