Response time and duration for motion aftereffect

(in English) Motion aftereffect in the opposite directions are obtained with a static and a flicker test after adaptation to the stimulus consisted of a high spatial frequency grating superimposed by a low spatial frequency grating , which are moving in the opposite directions. With a stationary test, motion aftereffect is in the opposite direction of the high spatial frequency grating and it is in the opposite direction of the low spatial frequency grating with a flicker stimulus. This suggests that the visual system has at least two mechanisms for motion processing. The present study investigated whether the same adaptation effect is obtained with measuring the reaction time to discriminating motion directions. Results first showed that the effect of motion adaptation can be obtained by the reaction time measurements, longer reaction time was found to respond the direction of adaptation grating. The results second show that the contrast ration of the two gratings that equate the motion aftereffects of the two grating is approximately the same between reaction time and MAE duration measurements.
