Study of Partially Driven Array Antenna with the Coupling Lines

(in English) In the design of high-frequency, multi-element phased array antennas, simplification of power supply and phase control is a major issue. In this study, the use of partially driven is suggested as one of the solutions. Also, a design with coupling lines between elements is proposed to suppress gain degradation due to partially driven. Evaluation with a small simulation model in a radiative near-field showed that the transmission efficiency with partially driven is about 59% of that with fully driven, whereas it can be improved to 76% by adding coupling lines.
