Development of MIMO Doppler Radar for Human Motion and Location Estimation

(in English) Indoor location estimation using a radio wave has been attracting attention. However, it is a problem that location estimation accuracy becomes worse in the indoor environment because of multipath reflection. In order to extract only wanted responses and remove unwanted responses, we introduce Doppler filtering method in this report. Radar echo by moving person causes the Doppler frequency shift while echo by wall and furniture do not have the shift. Hence only the moving person’s response is extracted by the Doppler filtering. Since high resolution capability is needed for indoor location estimation, we employ MIMO radar system. We show the availability of the Doppler filtering method and MIMO radar for indoor location estimation by experiment.
