The roles of diagnostic colors to natural scene recognition.
Tetsunoshin Fujii, Yasuhiro Kawabata (Hokkaido Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We examine how colors contribute to scene recognition in terms of semantic factors. Whether color cues are effective for diagnostic color scenes, or not? In Experimemt1, we execute a pair-comparison task that used blurred study images in order to detect chromatic contrasts effectively. In diagnostic color scenes the recognition rate increased when the images were presented in color mode. Diagnostic color scenes were classified as natural or man-made objects in Experiment1. In Experiment2, their scenes were reclassified as the number of possible colorations that can be imaged for each scene. We try to clarify the features of the diagnostic color scenes.
