To achieve 3D kinematic analysis of artificial knee implants,2D/3D registration technique, which uses X-ray fluoroscopic images and computer assisted design (CAD) model of the knee implant, is applied to clinical application. In previous method, however, we had to set initial pose for 2D/3D registration with manual operation, and that was one of the problems for practical clinical applications. In this study, we investigate automatic methods to determine the initial pose, using center of gravity of projection contour, polynomial approximation, or multilevel B-spline. As a result of experiments using actual fluoroscopic images, we showed multilevel B-spline was effective for initial pose estimation, and about 60 percent of manual operation was liminated. |
