Study on delay wave canceller for OFDM system in land mobile communication

In OFDM radio systems, guard interval is usually used to remove the interference due to multipath delayed waves. However, the transmission performance deteriorates when the delay of the delayed waves is longer than the guard interval period. In this paper, in order to solve the problem, we propose a delayed-wave canceller where no guard interval is necessary and examine the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations. In the design of the system, we pay much attention to the complexity of the system so that the required amount of the calculation becomes realistic. So we use symbol-by-symbol demodulation and a decision feedback canceller. Because the proposed system does not require the guard interval, the redundancy which is used for the guard interval period in existing OFDM systems is usable for error correction and the performance can be improved. The results of the simulations indicate the proposed canceller prevents the degradation of the transmission performance in multipath environments in comparison to the conventional systems. |
