BER Performance Improvement of STTD for MC-CDMA using Overlap FDE

(in English) Recently, multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) has been attracting much attention as a broadband wireless access technique for the next generation mobile communications systems. Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can take advantage of the channel frequency-selectivity and improve the average bit error rate (BER) performance due to frequency-diversity gain. Conventional FDE requires the insertion of guard interval (GI) which reduces the transmission efficiency. Overlap FDE technique requires no GI insertion and hence, does not reduce the transmission efficiency. Antenna diversity is an effective technique to improve the transmission performance. Space-time transmit diversity (STTD) is suitable for the downlink transmission. In the case of conventional FDE, STTD decoding can easily be combined with FDE. However, combining STTD decoding and overlap FDE is not straightforward. In this paper, we propose a technique to combine STTD decoding and overlap FDE for the MC-CDMA transmission and then, its BER performance is evaluated by computer simulation.
