Proposal of Interface Switching Method without Application Level Communication Termination in Home Network Environment

(in English) Recently, home networks are being paid attention widely, and there are intelligent home appliance equipments which can communicate through networks come into practical use. In home networks, multiple networks such as Ethernet, wireless LANs and power line communication LANs will be introduced and each home appliance will have inter faces for all of them. In such a situation, some home appliances may change interfaces during communication, and it is expected that the application level communication continues after the interface switching. This kind of IP mobility can be realized by Mobile IP in the Internet environment. But it may bring heavy overhead to be used in the home network environment. This paper proposes a new interface switching approach which does not terminate the application level communication even if the interface of home appliances is switched. Our approach uses the Mobile IP based scheme which is light overhead in accordance with the network conditions.
