Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this report, a spectrum characteristic of transmitted light though the membrane was measured as a new index of discrimination for basic taste solutions. The autocorrelation function was used to compare the characteristics of spectrum in each taste solution. Taste solution was classified by Mahalanobis distance from two autocorrelation coefficients. The group was represented on the second dimension coordinate at each plot by measurement. Mahalanobis distance was calculated between the plot and center of gravity of the group. The correct classification was calculated that used by the number of misclassification in each taste solution. As a result, correct classifications were 88.6% (sourness), 88.6% (saltiness), 78.1% (bitterness), 95.5% (sweetness), and 86.4% (umami). Mahalanobis distance has been found valid for the discrimination of basic taste solutions.
