A Design of CMOS Low Noise Amplifier for a Neural Signal Sensing LSI

(in English) The realization of neural signal sensing LSIs is demanded in the field of physiology and biology in order to observe a relation between body action and neural signal. We designed an amplifier for the neural signal sensing LSI. The amplifier using the auto-zero technique and the technique of the difference amplification decreased the DC-offset voltage and the 1/f noise of the circuit, and the amplifier suppressed a low-frequency noise caused by a commercial AC power supply from the outside of the LSI. The designed amplifier achieved the 20dB attenuation of low-frequency noise (~1mVpp, 60Hz) and 40dB amplification of the input signal (~100uV, 500Hz~1kHz). The neural signal is obtained by integrating the output signal of the amplifier in a digital domain.
