Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we propose a fast algorithm for cancellation of near point source based on independent component analysis (ICA).
A hands-free speech recognition system requires a precise and fast algorithm for enhancing target speech and reducing interference sound sources.
In a hands-free speech recognition system at a real environment, the following acoustic scenario often arises; a target speech which can be approximately regarded as a point source is close to the microphone array, and noises which cannot be regarded as point sources are far from the microphone array compared with target speech.
In such a case, blind spatial subtraction subtraction array (BSSA) has been proposed to extract a target speech.
BSSA utilizes source separation based on ICA as a noise estimator, and achieves target speech extraction by spectral subtraction.
In BSSA, using ICA as noise estimator is due to the fact that ICA is proficient in noise estimation which equals near-point-source cancellation. In this paper, first, we theoretically prove that ICA is proper for noise estimation and show the results of simulation for its validity.
Next, we propose a new fast algorithm for cancellation of near point source based on ICA.
Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is revealed in the target speech extraction experiment by BSSA which introduces the proposed algorithm.
