Carbon nanotube growth with dipped FeMo and FePt nanoparticle catalysts by chemical vapor deposition method

(in English) Our aim of the study is to grow the chirality-controlled single wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) using free electron laser (FEL) irradiation during growth. As a first step, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) growth with FeMo and FePt catalysts on quartz substrates was carried out in this report. The FeMo and FePt catalysts were dipped and CNTs were grown using
thermal chemical vapor deposition (TCVD) at 800°C with FeMo and at 600°C with FePt. As a result of micro-Raman spectrometry, 1350cm-1 D-band and 1590cm-1 G-band of CNT were observed. The minimum diameter of CNTs was ca. 20 nm by SEM; besides radial breathing mode (RBM) of CNT was not confirmed. The grown CNTs were expected to be multi wall carbon nanotubes.
