On Driving Lane Recognition System

(in English) This paper describes the proposal of a driving lane recognition system in plural traffic lane roads, and shows the effectiveness of the system by experiments. In this system, the number of traffic lanes of user’s present location is known by referring the database using GPS or M-CubITS. The white line detection in this system is performed using CONSAC. This system recognizes the user’s driving lane by comparing the hue and the saturation of the driving lane area with those of adjacent areas. The recognition performance is improved by using time series date. We carry out offline experiments on three traffic lane roads’ movies. Results show that recognition rate from each frame is 86.8% and that achieves 93.3% by using time series date.
