An Extraction Method of Material Constants by Transmission Line Measurements

(in English) The material constants of dielectric materials such as solder resist have a large influence on the accuracy of the electromagnetic field analysis in the high frequency. In this report, we propose an approximation formula of effective dielectric constant of micro strip line (MSL) covered with solder resist, and an extraction method of solder resist dielectric constant from MSL measurement data. We have confirmed the accuracy of extracted material constants by comparing the measurement data and the data simulated with these constants. In addition, we show that the influence of material constant anisotropy on MSL transmission property is relatively small up to the frequency of about 18GHz.
