Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The EBG Structure is realized by composing the periodic structure of the mushroom type structures, which consist of the patch and the vias to the ground plane. It can operate as a magnetic wall by which the reflection phase becomes 0°for a incident wave. In addition, the band gap characteristics that suppress the surface wave propagation within a band gap range of the frequency.
In this paper, the mutual coupling reduction between two inverted-F antennas is investigated on a finite ground plane at intervals of a half wavelength. The effect of the mutual coupling reduction can be achieved by adjusting the arrangement of the mushroom-type EBG structures. Moreover, the effects of the mushroom-type EBG structures are compared with the choke structure as conventional techniques for the mutual coupling reduction. In addition, made the antenna experimentally, the impedance and radiation characteristics measured. Since the experimental results coincide with the calculated results, the calculated results have been verified.
