Discrete Fourier transform for non-ideal sampling devices
Akira Hirabayashi (Yamaguchi Univ.) SIP2007-138 RCS2007-141
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We propose the discrete Fourier transform for measurements
obtained by non-ideal sampling devices, called DFTG.
We show that DFTG is computed by the original DFT followed by
an extra computation for an $N\times N$ matrix,
where $N$ is the number of measurements.
Based on this result, we derive an upper bound
for an error that arises if we simply apply the classical DFT to non-ideal measurements.
DFTG requires an $O(N^2)$ computation in general.
However, if the extra matrix is diagonal, DFTG is computed by a computation
of $O(N\log N)$. We call DFTG with a diagonal extra matrix FFTG.
We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the diagonality.
As an example, we derive FFTG when sampling pulse is given by B-spline function,
and show that the error can be $57\%$ if we apply the classical DFT
for non-ideal samples.
