In the image processing field, cellular neural networks (CNNs) have the merits of a high-speed parallel signal processing. In this paper, a single layer cellular neural networks using genetic algorithm (GA-CNN) is designed for CMOS image noise reduction. First, a method for designing templates of cellular neural network is based on genetic algorithm. These templates of CNNs are optimized to suppress photon shot noise in polluted image. We found from the simulation that the GA-CNN efficiently behave compared to the other noise reduction method. We also utilized genetic algorithm to get the correct form of template. The results of computer simulation show the effectiveness of the new approach. Furthermore, this result also shows that we can design CNNs template for many different questions based on statistical image model. |
