As the competitions between companies intensifying, it becomes more important to provide services promptly and at a low price. Business Process Management (BPM) has been recognized to be important for the reduction of lead times and operation expenditure. BPM involves four steps as understanding actual business process, analyzing inefficiencies and their causes, exploring solutions, and applying the best solution to the actual business. It is indispensable to carry out these BPM steps continuously because the condition of actual business varies on their environments. Understanding actual business process precisely, however, needs expert knowledge and enormous efforts, and takes a long period. This paper reports the business process optimization support tools which realize efficient understanding of actual business process by using operation logs of operation support systems. The tools provide two functions. One is to infer business process qualitatively based on operations logs, to visualize the process and to analyze the process. The other is to understand the business process objectively and quantitatively by offering the statistical analysis functions that can flexibly correspond to a variety of analysis demand levels and the evaluation indices. The tools adopt general architecture that separates the common part and the part that depends on the target business. This paper also verifies the validity of the understanding result and effectiveness of the general architecture by applying the tools to the two real businesses. |
