We used the two-part melody of the first theme of the final movement of Tchaikovsky’s sixth symphony as standard stimulus and one-part melodies derived from it as deviant stimuli in the oddball paradigm. Standard stimuli was presented binaurally as described by the original score. We prepared two deviant stimuli. One was the line actually played by the first violins, and the other was the true theme but played by the two groups of violins in turn. The two deviant stimuli were presented to the left ear only. The response was smaller when the latter deviant was presented than the former. |
