[Tutorial Lecture] The Use of Anatomical Knowledge in Organ Segmentation of Medical Images

(in English) This lecture presents several algorithms to use anatomical knowledge in organ segmentation of medical images. First I focus on a point distribution model as well as a level set method, and explain some methods to introduce anatomical knowledge into these processes. Second an algorithm for Maximum A Posteriori probability based segmentation is presented to utilize anatomical knowledge. Finally this paper shows the recent trials to introduce anatomical knowledge into some important processes, such as an estimation process of feature distribution parameters based on Expectation Maximization algorithm and a simultaneous segmentation and registration process between images obtained with different imaging modalities.
