In this study, we present an ultrasonic-based three dimensional tracking system which can track the position of the object with high accuracy using only a single beacon. Our proposed system uses the time of flight of ultrasonic wave to calculate the distance between the transmitter and the receiver. We applied the Phase Accordance Method which can accurately detect the arrival time of the ultrasonic signal and increase the accuracy of distance measurement. The main advantage of our proposed system is that we can precisely locate the position of the moving object in three dimensions by using only one base station. In this paper, we discuss the concept, implementation, experiment, advantages and disadvantages of the proposed system, comparing it to other well-known systems. The experimental results show that our system can measure the position to within an accuracy of just a few centimeters. |
