Blood Pressure (BP) is a quite important factor for discovering cardiovascular condition. In general, non-invasive BP measurements need a cuff. However, such measurement techniques give loads to patients mentally and physically and besides can hardly moniter BP continuously. Lately it is getting easy to measure daily biological signals since sensor technologies have been developed and all kinds of measurement instrument have become much smaller and consumed less power. Therefore, this study suggests the method of Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) estimation with other wearable sensors instead of using a cuff. In particular, our study depends on only Pulse Wave signal detected by the Photoplethysmograph (PPG) sensor because PPG sensor is very small and we can measure the signal comfortably. As people get older, cardiovascular peculiarities are changing more and more and vary among individuals according to advanced rate of arteriosclerosis. Hence, it is necessary for SBP estimation to divide data into several classes by parameters that relate to individual cardiovascular peculiarities. In this study, a multiple regression analysis was adapted to calculate estimation equation of SBP from individual information and features of PPG signal in each class. As a result, the accuracy of estimation was improved. This technique would make cuffless SBP monitoring become more convenient and helpful since the device required for monitoring is only one and also smaller than traditional measurements. |
