It is desirable for object extraction to be automated, accurate and versatile.
There are two types of methods for object detection -- visual attention maps and graph cuts.
Visual attention maps can automatically extract an object but not along its exact contours.
Graph cuts are the other way around.
They cannot automate because the samples of the object termed seeds are necessary.
Although seeds can be estimated using heuristics or learnings for the specific kind of object, the versatility is lost.
This paper proposes a method that meets the all three needs above using object areas extracted by visual attention maps
as seeds of graph cuts. |
