A Prototype of Multilingual Cooperative Design Support System

(in English) In order to plan bilingual applications, it should be interesting that two designers teams could collaborate together, each using its own language. In this paper, we present an analysis of a multi-language application from a cross-cultural point of view. We analyze the specific activities of a multi-lingual collaborative design and shows that it requires an automatic translation system suitable for multi-lingual communications. We have developed a design support system producing UML specifications for multilingual applications using the Language Grid. This system allows the collaboration of two or more teams of designers having different languages and communicating in their own language. The system also helps at translating text documents explaining the design motivations.
