Cycle Attack Free Logical Topology Design in OCDM Networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In OCDM networks there is a chance that cycle attack is caused by MAI(Multiaccess Interference) propagation and could disrupt network services.
In the previous study, a heuristic wavelength assignment approach was proposed to avoid the unintended cycle attack under dynamic traffic condition. However, this approach may cause a long overhead in distributed lightpath establishment delay which in turn leads to high blocking probability. In this paper, we propose a cycle attack free logical topology design to resolve the unintended cycle attack problem. The proposal can completely eliminate cycle attack in the routing phase, and moreover reduce the overhead in lightpath establishment delay. The basic idea is to design tree-based logical topology for each wavelength.
In addition, three different wavelength assignment schemes are designed upon each connection request. We evaluate our proposal via computer simulations. Illustrative results show that; a) putting a high priority to the tree-based topolgies with smaller average hops is more effective to obtain better blocking performance; b) in distributed lightpath establishment the proposed approach can outperform the existing approach in terms of blocking and delay performance if the link delay is not
small enough compared to the connection request service duration.
