Analysis of Surface Particle Motion in Helical Coiled Waveguide

(in English) Authors developed a traveling-wave-type ultrasound motor using a helical coiled waveguided as a stator.The motor has an advantage of miniaturization due to the simplicity. A rotor can be placed outside or inside adjacent to the stator: outer rotor type and inner rotor type structure. In previous study, we confirmed that rotation direction of the outer rotor type CS-USM with low driving frequency is reversed to that with high driving frequency.In this study, to clarify the phenomenon, we examine the surface particle motion of helical coiled waveguide. As a result, although both r- and θ-directional phases of the inner surface with low driving frequency coincide with those of straight line waveguide; the phase dirreference between θ-directional phase of inner and outer surfaces is 180 degrees, θ-directional phase of the outer surface is shifted 180 degrees to that with high driving frequency; the
phase difference between inner and outer surfaces is 0 degree.
