Epitaxial Growth of KNbO3 thick Films by Hydrothermal Method and Their Characterization

(in English) KNbO3 films were grown at 240 oC by hydrothermal method from KOH and Nb2O5 as source materials. 16 um-thick epitaxial KNbO3 thick films with {100}-orientation were successfully grown on (100)cSrRuO3//SrTiO3 substrates for 3 h. Clear hysteresis loops originated from the ferroelectricity were observed and a remanent polarization was 20 μC/cm2 at a maximum applied electric field of 220 kV/cm. The dielectric constant and the dielectric loss were 415 and 8% at 100 kHz, then an observed piezoelectric constant d33 was 86 pm/V in which case an area of electrode was 200 μm in diameter.
