Higher-order PMD supressor utilizing carier-wavelength intensity monitor

(in English) In this report, we describe a simple optical higher order PMD suppressor with effective monitoring techniques. The PMD suppressor consists of 1st-order PMD compensator and a polarization-beam-splitter (PBS) as the depolarization mitigating function. The performances of such PMD suppressor are dependent to the kind of feedback signals. Moreover higher-order effect became a great obstacle to find out the optimal control state. Here, we discuss about the advantage of applying carrier-wavelength intensity monitoring after the PBS for the PMD suppressor. In addition, we employ a tunable DGD generator to the 1st-order PMD compensator function. It has an ultra-high DGD resolution of 0.05 fs, so that the combination of highly accurate DGD compensation and PBS based depolarization suppression are possible. The performances of the PMD suppressor are discussed with some results of experiments.
