Sound Reproducing System for Easiness of Speech Perception Using Estimate Method of Sound Pressure Level Distribution by Logistic Model
Shiho Atsumi, Kenji Furihata (Shinshu Univ.) EA2009-65
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) High volume level output at the loudspeaker can cause the loop to get into an oscillatory mode usually referred to as “howling”. Electrodynamic loudspeakers have inherent nonlinearities generating harmonic and inter-modulation distortion. In order to develop the public address system that can reinforce the source signal without any degradation. In this report, the cumulative sound pressure level distribution by logistic model obtained from the results of a study of listeners' preferences for the most suitable levels of news speech by a female announcer (NHK) in an anechoic room (4×5×3 m3) and a lecture room (1,200 m3) was experimentally discussed. From the results, (a) the midpoint M of the logistic function is 64.6 dB and the spread parameter S that the slope of the function is 1.4 dB based on the data in the anechoic room, and (b) the midpoint M of the logistic functions are from 55.8 dB to 66.3 dB and the spread parameters S are from 1.3 dB to 2.2 dB based on the measured 9-point data in the lecture room.
