Fabrication of Cathode Active Material/Nanocarbon Composites and Their Effect on Lithium Cell Performance

(in English) We fabricated LiCoO2/helical nanocarbon (HCNs) composites by forming HCNs on LiCoO2 coated with acetylene black (AB) (LiCoO2/AB) and evaluated effect of the composites on lithium cell performance. HCNs were successfully formed on LiCoO2/AB and there was no significant difference in the HCN formation from HCNs formed on bare LiCoO2. However, XRD measurements indicated that AB coating provided insufficient protection against LiCoO2 degradation. SEM observation showed that AB did not uniformly disperse on LiCoO2 particles and agglomerated to some extent. This resulted in a low specific capacity for a cell containing LiCoO2/AB/HCN composite.
