Lithium/Air battery using aqueous electrolyte is studied. To avoid direct contact of lithium with water, water-stable NASICON-type lithium ion conductor, Li1+x+yTi2−xAlxP3−ySiyO12(LTAP) is placed on the surface of lithium electrode. A lithium ion conducting layer of LiPON has been inserted between LTAP and lithium to prevent their reductive reaction. No degradation of the composite Li anode is observed after one-month immersion in water. |
