Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Bats have high capabilities of avoiding obstacles by echolocation combined with flight performance in complete darkness. In this study, the horizontal direction and sound pressure of emitted pulses from flying FM bats (Miniopterus fuliginosus) during obstacle avoidance in the chamber were measured by using 24-ch microphone array system and telemetry sound recording (Telemike) respectively. As a result, bats decreased sound pressure and repetition rate of emitted pulses refining their flight route by continuing to fly in same obstacle condition. Relationship between sonar beam direction and flight direction of the bats was demonstrated linear control law even in different obstacle complexity.
