A Study on Network Coding for Regenerative Repeater Relay in Inter-Vehicle Communication System

(in English) In inter-vehicle communication (IVC) of ITS, it is necessary to solve shadowing problems owing to Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) between vehicles
caused by large-size vehicles. It has been proposed that the IVC adopts multi-hop communication techniques in order to reduce NLOS wireless environment. However, the IVC with the multi-hop techniques may result in a increase of network traffic and packet collision. In this paper, we propose that we apply a network coding technique, in which two relay packets are multiplexed to one coded relay packet using the exclusive OR circuit, to the multi-hop IVC system. By computer simulations, we show an ability of the proposed system by evaluating the ratio of the received packets without error to the transmitted packets at each vehicle.
