A Re-definition of "Conceptual Data Modeling" from the Viewpoint of Pragmatism

(in English) Most software design methodologies were born in the United States. Especially, the "modeling" in requirement analysis is the human's recognition process of the target world. This suggests that the modeling process is strongly affected by the cognition philosophy in the United States. In this paper, Object-Oriented Analysis and "Conceptual Data Modeling (CDM)", proposed by MASP association, are analyzed from the viewpoint of pragmatism, philosophy of the United States. The Object-Oriented Analyses are equal to the "Fallibilism" and "Method of
Science" of C. S. Peirce. The grain size of the Static Model (Noun) is controlled by the Dynamic Model (Verb) in the CDM. This is understood from the concept of "New List of Categories" of Peirce. Also, the Duhem-Quine Thesis, proposed by W. V. O. Quain, justifies the repeated switching of working among three models of the CDM. The proposed contradistinction with philosophical aspects provides easy and unified understanding of the Object-Oriented Analysis and CDM.
