To clarify rain attenuation characteristics on Earth-space paths important to the system design for satellite communications at Ka-bands link, we have carried out continuous measurements of receive signal level in WINDS(Wideband Inter Networking engineering test and Demonstration Satellite) Ka-bands link.
In this research, we describe the experiment in Okinawa Prefecture of the most remarkable subtropics climate for the rain attenuation. This experiment has been a consignment from NICT since November 2009. Rain attenuation was measured using 4.5mφHUB station and 67cmφVSAT terminal in Okinawa, and some useful topical rain attenuation data with the data of rainfall depth were acquired. |
