| (in English) | We can discriminate men's faces quite easily. However, it is difficult for many people to identify face of dog or cat although dog breeders can do it easily. Moreover, it is suggested that man can identify the faces of own race than those of other races. These facts suggest that learning process is important for face discrimination. However, it is not clear what kind of learning is attained for identification of faces. In this research, we intended to clarify the learning process for identifying faces, using the pictures of dogs, which many people cannot discriminate initially. Subjects discriminated pictures of dogs presented sequentially, while measuring the eye movement. The result showed that the number of saccade per unit time decreases as learning progressed. Moreover, the size of saccade also decreased as learning time. These results indicates that there could be at least two reasons, whole processing and partial processing to discriminate faces. | |
