The robot market has been established by manufacturing robots thus far. Industrialization of life-support robots is expected to help expand the current market scale. However, there are no domestic and international standards that define the safety of robots operating in the daily life space of humans. Hence, there is an urgent need to verify the safety of life-support robots and standardize the safety requirements. In safety verification, it is essential to ensure that the robots are safe even when subjected to electromagnetic disturbances, as is required from the viewpoint of functional safety. The radiated RF immunity (radiated EMS) test, which is one of the EMC tests used to determine the immunity of the apparatus, is gaining importance with the development and spread of radio technology. In many life-support robots, careful evaluation of the immunity becomes difficult when testing an EUT that is maintained exclusively in a fixed state. The safety of robots that human wears or rides on can be effectively and easily verified if immunity tests are performed under conditions where human and the robot move together as a single unit. However, in the radiated EMS test, the human is exposed to electromagnetic fields. Further, the reproducibility of the results obtained in this test is poor since the distance between the EUT and the antenna may vary. This study deals with the two abovementioned problems and presents a radiated EMS test for moving robots that humans wear or ride on. |
